Collection: Slipper Orchids

Slipper orchids are a unique group of orchids whose common trait is their unusual pouch-shaped lip which resembles a slipper. Slipper orchids are found throughout Asia, Europe, and the Americas and include the genera Paphiopedilum, Phragmipedium, Cypripedium, Selenipedium, and Mexipedium.

Slipper orchids are our favorites and our breeding efforts at Bitis Botanical are strongly focused on Paphiopedilum, particularly the multifloral group. Many of our stud plants have been awarded by the American Orchid Society and can be seen on our AOS Awards page. In addition to breeding with our own plants we also collaborate with other nurseries and private growers to create unique and spectacular new crosses.
