Epidendrum Sunbelt's Gossamer Star is a hybrid of Epidendrum magnoliae and Epidendrum ciliare. Epidendrum magnoliae has the distinction of being the northernmost growing epiphytic orchid, ranging from Florida all the way up into North Carolina. Combining this miniature species with the Central American Epidendrum ciliare will give larger flowers on a compact plant and they should be fragrant.
If you live in a subtropical area and you're feeling brave the magnoliae ancestry may make Epidendrum Sunbelt's Gossamer Star a viable candidate for permanently mounting to your trees.
