Petite Crawlers are my compact worm pendant option that blends my careful attention to detail with affordability.

What’s the difference between Petite Crawlers and Classic Crawlers?
-SIZE: Petite Crawlers are noticeably smaller. They’re about half the size of classics, but they’re still a nice chunky worm, still large enough to be a conversation piece. Their smaller size does save me a little time, but not a whole lot.
-CORD: Petite Crawlers come ready to wear on a suede lace cord. It looks similar to the deerskin lace I use for classics, it’s just not quite as soft. I cut them long enough so that when the knots are finished, the pendant can be slipped over the head and will sit mid-chest or lower, depending on who’s wearing it. I prefer to send them long, and the new owner can shorten or modify it as they please.
-FINISH: Classic and other “premium” crawlers (I don’t really like that word because petites are still premium in their own way) get a liquid polymer clay finish. It is extremely time-consuming, as it must be applied and heat-cured in stages. I cherish this finish for the dimensional final layer it adds to the piece, even though it is a major pain to apply.
Petite Crawlers feature a water-based gloss varnish that I apply and air-dry. It is a crystal-clear and durable coating that will not flake or peel at the pick of a nail. It is non-yellowing and non-toxic. Visually and functionally, it’s almost identical to the liquid clay one, with the varnish being a slightly “thinner” layer than the liquid clay one. This finish is my biggest time-saver, and it’s the main reason I am able to offer Petite Crawlers at a lower price point.

The similarities:
-Every single one starts as a lump of clay and is hand-sculpted, hand-textured, ETC.
-I still pack as much detail into them as a Classic Crawler, so they’re still fairly labor-intensive.
- All are photographed and offered as unique individuals.
-Will have people wondering why TF you put a worm on a string around your neck.
