Annelid Skywalker - Worm Pendant 3

My worm pendants are all completely hand-made. I roll each one out, texture it, and pose it individually, so every one is a unique sculpture. The finish on them is polymer as well. I do not use UV/epoxy resins or paints to make these. 

I pair them with a long cord of genuine deerskin lace, which I prefer for the super soft feel, light weight, and durability. Many people wear them so that they hang mid-chest, and the simple leather lace is a nice unisex option. If you would prefer vegan suede cord, please let me know and I am happy to swap it out, but I will caution that it is not nearly as durable or soft/nice. 

The worms are firm and smooth to the touch, but not brittle, so they're quite durable. They can withstand a fall on a hard surface or an accidental whack. I like to throw them across the room at in-person events for the entertainment value.

I have invested significant time into perfecting my formulas for them. Achieving this degree of realism, especially texture, is tedious and time-consuming, but I love every minute of it. My favorite part is posing them. I love how each one comes alive in its own way, and they kind of “tell me” how they want to be posed if I just loosen up and don’t think too hard about it. They go into the oven a minimum of 3 times before they’re finished.

Q: Won’t they break? They look fragile.
—A: They’re made of an exceptionally durable polymer clay, one that is made to have some bounce to it and that will flex many times before it breaks. (They are still firm and smooth to the touch, not rubbery or gummy). Properly-cured, you can bend a piece of this clay all the way in half and it will just go back to its original position. Please don't fidget with or bend them for fun though, and avoid wearing on a day if it might get whacked around a lot. They are still jewelry, and it is best to treat them as such. The flex is great to safeguard against accidental knocks, but repetitive bending of just about any material can lead to stress over time.

Q: Are they squishy or sticky like they look?
—A: No. Neither. They are smooth to the touch and hard/firm. No gummy worm here, this is a Firmy Wormy!

Q: Do you use resin?
—A: I do not use epoxy or UV resin in any part of my worms. The reason I highlight this is because some people, including myself, are sensitive to certain materials or are prone to developing allergies. I avoid resin because it eventually yellows over time, but also because it is a major allergy risk for me.

Q: How do I wear it?
—A however you like. They come ready to wear on a generous length of deerskin leather lace. At the length I cut, they usually sit at the center/below center of your chest. Both men and women wear my work! Including my own husband.

Q: I am not a jewelry person, but I need one, what else can you do with them?
—A: a lot of people buy my stuff to hang somewhere in their home, from their rear-view mirror, to accompany their plants, ETC. The cord can be removed and they can lay flat as a figurine.

Q: Is this a good way to find out if my boyfriend would still love me?
—A: yes.
